2020 My Physio Riverboat Classic Boys Championships

The Fredericton High Black Kats are the 2020 My Physio Riverboat Classic boy’s champions defeating the host KVHS Crusaders 83-69. The Black Kats jumped out of the gate with an impressive 1st quarter, grabbing a 31-11 lead after only 10 minutes. The home team, however, got things under control in the 2nd quarter to trail 45-24 at the half.

The KVHS made things interesting in the 3rd quarter, cutting the FHS lead to 11 points, but FHS got back to the basics by pounding the ball inside to Norm Burry to push the lead back for 18 points (62-44) after three quarters.

In the 4th quarter, it was the KVHS bench who made another run, cutting the FHS lead to 13 points but in the end the Captial City crew was too much for the Crusaders.

The Black Kats got to the final game with a 107-89 win over Auburn Drive from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The Crusaders earned their trip to the finals with a 70-38 victory over Moncton.

The Pomodori Pizza Players of the Game in the finals were Noah Ozkaynak (KVHS) and Jackson Sweetland (FHS).

  • Norm Burry 21 points
  • Malcolm Christie 12 points
  • Alex Dunn 12 points

Leading scorers for KVHS were:

  • Ryan Pollard 18 points
  • Gavin Trites 17 points

In the consolation finals, Horton defeated Saint John High 92-90.
