KVHS Earns Split on Day #1

The host teams split the first two games of the 2020 My Physio Riverboat Classic on opening day.

In the first game of the evening, the host KVHS girls fell 62-54 to the visiting Moncton High Purple Knights after being tied at 32 at the half. The lady Crusaders were lead Leandra Hersey with 16 points and Kate Griffin with 8 points. The Purple Knights had a well balanced attacked with four players in double figures; Kelsey Alward with 14, Celine Sterckel with 12 plus Taylor Wood and Lyndsay Black both adding 11.

The Pomodori Pizza players of the game were Taylor Wood (MHS) and Maggie Allen (KVHS)

In the second game, the KVHS men shook off a poor shooting opening 20 minutes to explode for 53 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters to turn a 22-27 deficit at half time into a 75-45 victory over cross-town rivals Saint John High School. The Crusaders were led by Gavin Trites with 22 points and Ryan Pollard with 19. The Greyhounds’ leading scorers were Ben Power with 20 and Ben Lambert with six.

The Pomodori Pizza players of the game were Gavin Trites (KVHS ) and Ben Power (SJHS).

Play resumes tomorrow morning at 9:30 am with Fredericton High Black Kats taking on Leo Hayes Lions in women’s action followed by the Moncton High Purple Knights and Fredericton High School Black Kats in men’s action.
